The RTE 12(1)(c) scheme was passed by the Indian Parliament on 4 August 2009 and came into effect from 1 April 2010.
The benefit of RTE 12 (1) (c) scheme is being given in Chhattisgarh from the session 2010-11. Earlier, the benefit of the Act was given only till Class-VIII, but now by amending it (at Chhattisgarh state level), its validity has been extended till Class-XII in the session 2019. Under RTE 12(1)(c), 25% seats in the elementary classes of all non-aided and non-minority private schools are reserved for children from weaker and disadvantaged families.
Under this Act, children aged 3 to 6½ years can take admission in the primary class of any private school. Students admitted under this scheme can study for free in selected schools till class 12th. Till now about 2.9 lakh students in Chhattisgarh are taking benefit of this scheme. Because the benefit of this scheme is that the needy and eligible students are given free education from nursery to class 12th, its main objective is to bring social inclusion i.e. social equality among all sections of the people in the society, and to make all the groups feel valuable and important.
So that various types of discrimination can be removed.
